Voting on Kootenai Co. school levies Tuesday | North Idaho News


Kootenai County voters will be hitting the polls Tuesday to vote on four levies for Coeur d'Alene, Post Falls, Lakeland, and Kootenai School Districts.


Coeur d'Alene constituents will be voting on a $20 million-per-year replacement/supplemental levy that will total $40 million over two years. This levy supports the following:

  • Technology

  • Mental health professionals

  • Nurses

  • Kootenai Technical Education Campus

  • Art

  • P.E.

  • Advanced classes

  • School resource and campus safety officers

Post Falls residents will be voting on a $4.955 million-per-year replacement/supplemental levy that will total $9.91 million over two years. This levy supports the following:

  • Staffing

  • Programming needs

  • Transportation

  • Two to three new buses

  • Student services

  • Nursing

  • School resource officers

Lakeland Joint constituents will vote on a $9.5 million-per-year levy that will total $19 million in two years. This levy supports the following:

  • Programs for staff and students

  • Services for staff and students

  • Athletics

  • Theater

  • Choir

Kootenai School patrons will be voting on a $725,000-per-year supplemental maintenance and operations levy that will provide $1.45 million in two years. This levy supports the following:

  • School resource officer

  • Improve playground equipment

  • Maintain and improve internet

  • Groundskeeping

  • Retain teachers and staff

  • Repairs

Absentee ballots are due Tuesday at 8 pm. Polls will be open from 8 am to 8 pm.


4,953 absentee ballots were requested for this election. 2,058 were sent out in 2019, according to the Coeur d'Alene Press.
