A Smelterville man is now recovering after a crash on US 95 that sent him and the vehicle airborne momentarily.
On Saturday at approximately 11:30 pm, 50-year-old, Christopher J. Nusz, was driving southbound on US 95 near milepost 451, when the vehicle crossed over both lanes of traffic, went through the center median, crossed over both northbound lanes, ran off the shoulder, and momentarily went airborne before finally coming to rest in the middle of N. Williams Ln in Kootenai County.
Nusz was trapped in the vehicle when authorities arrived on the scene. Medical personnel had to extricate him, according to a press release from the Idaho State Police.
Life Flight Network was launched and Nusz was transported to Kootenai Health in Coeur d’Alene.
Police say Nusz was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash. An investigation is now ongoing.
