Sandpoint man pleads not guilty to raping a minor | North Idaho News

David Anothany Dorland Jr., a Sandpoint man, plead not guilty Monday after being accused of statutory rape and sexual abuse of a minor.

Allegations arose last month after a teenage girl disclosed them to investigators.

Dorland Jr. admitted to sexually harassing her and said that the two met up to have sex between Dec. 2020 and Jan. 2021. The 28-year-old did not deny having sex with the teen when speaking to investigators, according to the Bonner County Daily Bee.

Judge Tera Harden entered an order forbidding him from having any contact with the teen while the case was pending.

Dorland Jr. is being held on a $10,000 and if convicted he could face up to life in prison plus another 25 years for sexual battery of a 16 to17-year-old.

Dorland Jr. is set for a jury trial in 1st District Court in May.
