Old Highway 95 from ID-53 to Garwood Road is set to open Wednesday.

This section has been closed for two weeks as Idaho Transportation Department crews straightened the existing S curve.

Directly after the opening, construction of Lekstrum Road, a new connector road between Garwood and Old Highway 95, will begin. This closure will go until July, according to ITD.

Traffic traveling on Old Highway 95 will be able to pass through the area, but will not be able to turn onto Garwood.

Early stages of construction

Since access to US-95 at Garwood was permanently removed, crews are now building foundations and piers for the new overpass. Traffic will continue to be detoured down Ramsey and Pope Roads to the new interchange at ID-53 to access US-95.
