Five escape Post Falls house fire | North Idaho News

Kootenai County Fire and Rescue (KCFR) responded to a house fire in Post Falls, where five residents escaped the fire early Sunday morning.

Phone calls came in around 6:53 a.m., reporting smoke and fire near 26th and Greensferry.

KCFR, along Northern Lakes Fire District and Coeur d'Alene fire units, fought the multi-story house fire.

The two residents, who also had three guests, escaped the house without injury. Although, one firefighter was slightly injured while fighting the blaze.

A tentative cause of the fire was determined to be smoker debris that was discarded into a non-fireproof container, which smoldered and eventually caught fire.

"Heavy damage was sustained by the structure," according to the press release.
